Limited Edition Elephant C6: " Elephant C6 - the new chef in the kitchen! "
Hamburg - The Elephant C6 is a new elephant model in the upper middle product range by the Hamburg designer and towel expert Andreas Linzner. For his current Stuffed Animal Limited Special Edition, Linzner deals with a traditional type of towel.
Part I: The Coal Miner’s Towel ‘Grubenhandtuch’
After their shift in the coal mine, miners would go to the changing and wash house to shower and clean up. About 90 years ago, nearly every single coal miner would rub himself clean using the blue and white checkered towel which, because of its special weave and patterning, would not immediately look grimy and show the coal dust residue. Coal dust, of course, contains carbon. The chemical element carbon has the symbol C and the atomic number 6 in the periodic table of the elements – hence the designation C6.
The most sought-after market for this characteristic towel was probably the nearby Ruhr Valley, a large mining area. However, the towel also made a break-through in North America via the Sears Roebuck mail order catalog in the 1930’s. As a tea towel, it is appreciated today by popular German TV chef Tim Mälzer in his kitchen, just as it was popular with and much appreciated by house wives more than 80 years ago.
The raw material for the Linzner C6 Edition is woven on historical weaving looms in the Textile and Industrial Museum TIM in Augsburg and in the LWL Textile Museum Bocholt.
The Elephant C6 is sewn in Bavaria.
Material: 100% cotton. Filling: polyester fiber fill. Care: hand wash.
Measuring 26 cm in height, the checkered elephant is very stylish and has been elected to be the new chef in the kitchen.
At a net purchase price of EUR 24.00, the Elephant C6 has been available as the 10th Special Edition of the Andreas Linzner elephant series. please go to the car-elephant..
